Welsh cakes - a must in Wales, unfortunately my mother makes the best ones from my grandmothers receipe so it’s unlikely you’ll get to eat the best, but they are all worth a try
**Cockles & lava bread** - very popular in the South - if you like seafood give it a go - not one for me
**In the Welsh wind** - make your own gin custom to your tastes - really good experience if you like gin - you tailor your own and walk away with a bottle of it

Cardiff
Capital city of Wales
Great place to shop, a lovely castle and some cracking places to eat & drink
No posh restaurants here - some random places to eat
Dorothy’s - famously old chip shop - specialty and worth eating - Chicken Curry and chips [map]
Pen y fan - there are 4 ways up, if you are up for a 3 hour walk I highly recommend skipping the 1.5 hour route from the main road that everyone else does, the other routes are quieter, have much better views and you aren’t just walking up and down some steps
